Besides words and characters (with and without spaces), the tool calculates sentences, paragraphs and lines, and estimates reading time (200 words per minute) and speaking time (130 per minute). Counting happens as you type, with no button to click.

We use an average of 200 words per minute, a typical adult speed. The result is rounded up.
