About TextCaret

Last updated: August 1, 2026

TextCaret is a collection of 40+ free text tools that run directly in your browser, from word counting and case conversion to Base64 encoding and JSON formatting. We build every tool around three principles: be fast, be simple, and respect your privacy.

Our mission

Simple text utilities should be instant, free and safe to use with any content. Most online text tools upload what you type to a server; we think that trade-off is unnecessary. TextCaret exists to prove that a complete text toolkit can run entirely on your own device.

Who is behind TextCaret

TextCaret is an independent project, built and maintained by its creators without outside investors. We are not a big company, which is exactly why we can keep every tool free, avoid signups, and answer feedback personally at contact@textcaret.com.

How the tools work

Every tool is plain JavaScript running in your browser. When you paste text into a tool, the processing, counting, converting, cleaning, encoding, happens locally, using your browser's own engine and standard Web APIs. There is no backend service: the pages you load are static files, and your text is never transmitted anywhere.

How we validate results

Each tool is tested against known inputs and expected outputs before it ships, and the rules behind every result are documented on the tool's own page. For example, reading time assumes 200 words per minute and speaking time 130 words per minute; encoders follow the relevant standards (Base64 per RFC 4648, URL encoding per RFC 3986). If you ever get a result that looks wrong, tell us at contact@textcaret.com, verified issues are fixed and noted.

Free, and how the site sustains itself

All tools are free and require no account. The site is supported by advertising (Google AdSense), which appears around the tools but never affects how they work or what they output. See our editorial policy for how we handle content and ads.

Our companion sites

TextCaret is part of a small family of free, no-install browser tools from the same team. If you also work with an Android phone, take a look at Android Fixer, our companion site for testing and fixing your device right in the browser.
